Optical Rocks - An EZ2 Kit. Visible light travels in a straight path through the air. However, if it encounters a transparent or translucent object like the crystals in this kit, some of the light will be reflected away by the surface of the object and some will be refracted (bent) from its original path as it passes through the object. When light is refracted, both its speed and direction change.
This kit has been developed to demonstrate what happens to light when it strikes and penetrates the surface of four different types of crystals. The kit contains a detailed instruction booklet and crystals of optical calcite, ulexite, quartz and phlogopite. |
